I first walked through the doors of PAL International on November 6, 2007. It’s hard to believe that 18 years have passed since that day. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of watching the company grow and change from moving factories and acquiring new machines to the hundreds of talented team members who have passed through these doors. Looking back, it’s been an incredible ride, and I’m proud of everything we’ve achieved together. (Read more below)

I began my career at PAL as a packer at the Oadby site, which was a great place to learn the basics of the job. Soon after, I moved to our Kenilworth Drive location, where we had a storage unit housing several machines. This is where I started training on Research 1 and Research 2—two machines that, at the time, felt like a real challenge! But with patience and persistence, I quickly got the hang of it. I stayed there for about six months while the big move to Lutterworth was happening, and I was fortunate enough to be one of the first to help get production up and running at the brand-new site. It was an exciting time, full of new beginnings, and I felt proud to be part of it.
As the years went by, I gained more experience operating machines and began to grow with the company. A few years later, when the foot-and-mouth crisis hit, things changed for everyone. It was a challenging period, but it also presented an opportunity for me to step up in a new way. During this time, I was asked to take on the role of team leader on the night shift. I embraced this responsibility wholeheartedly, knowing it was my chance to lead by example. I took pride in guiding my team through uncertain times, and that experience taught me so much about leadership, adaptability, and the importance of staying positive no matter the circumstances.
When things began to return to normal after the pandemic, I felt a renewed sense of purpose and ambition. It was clear to me that I wanted to continue growing within the company. As PAL expanded and new opportunities opened up, I was fortunate enough to apply for a leadership role when the company restructured. I’m proud to say that I was selected for the position of production manager and immediately began the process of building my team.
I worked with many of the same faces I had spent years alongside, and I also brought in new talent through interviews and agencies. Today, I lead a fantastic group of over 50 people. This team is something I greatly value, and it’s one of my proudest achievements at PAL. I’ve always believed that building a strong, supportive team is the key to success, and it’s a privilege to work with a group of individuals I trust and respect, people I’m happy to work beside every single day.
Looking ahead, I’m excited about what the future holds for both myself and for PAL International. With new ownership and the opening of a new factory, it’s an exciting time to be part of this team. Looking back on my 18 years here, I can honestly say it’s been an incredible journey, filled with growth, learning, and a lot of great people. I’m proud to be part of the PAL family, and I look forward to continuing this journey with everyone as we reach new heights together.
