Sustainability Progress: Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

At Pal International, sustainability is embedded into our business strategy and operations. Guided by internationally recognised frameworks including the UN Global Compact Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ISO 14001, the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, the SME Climate Hub, and the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), we continuously monitor and improve our environmental performance. In 2025, we achieved a significant milestone by becoming carbon neutral for Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, five years ahead of our SBTi target. We remain focused on achieving Net Zero across Scopes 1, 2 and 3 by 2050.

Carbon Reduction & Energy Management

Scope 1 & 2 Emissions

Located on an outstanding BREEAM site, we continue to investment in renewable energy, have transition to a fully electric fleet and eliminated natural gas consumption. Pal International achieved a 100% reduction in Scope 1 emissions during 2025 and maintained market-based Scope 2 emissions at zero.

Scope 1 & 2 Performance
  • 2019 Baseline: 226 tCO₂e
  • 2025: 0 tCO₂e (market based) (100% reduction from baseline)
    • Scope 1 emissions reduced to 0 tCO₂e
    • Fleet transitioned to 100% electric vehicles
    • Electricity sourced from 100% renewable energy backed by REGO certificates
Scope 3 Emissions

Scope 3 emissions remain our largest environmental impact, accounting for approximately 98% of our total carbon footprint in 2025. Encouragingly, emissions reduced significantly during the year through production innovation by designing out carbon emissions and reduction in waste streams.

Scope 3 Performance
  • 2019 Baseline: 5,883 tCO₂e
  • 2024: 5,851 tCO₂e
  • 2025: 5,176 tCO₂e (11.5% reduction year-on-year)

We are prioritising supply chain collaboration and sustainable product development, to further reduce Scope 3 emissions and support our Net Zero ambition.

Sustainable Sourcing & Procurement

Recognising that the majority of our carbon footprint lies within our supply chain, supplier engagement remains a key priority.

Supplier Environmental Performance

Supplier environmental performance improved in 2025, with 46% of our raw material suppliers now holding ISO 14001 certification. We continue to strengthen sustainability requirements within our procurement processes while working with suppliers to improve Scope 3 emissions reporting and environmental transparency.

Sustainable Products & Packaging

We continue to invest in innovations that reduce environmental impact across our product portfolio.

Current initiatives include:

  • Introducing fully biodegradable and maceratable wipe materials.
  • Transitioning disinfectant wipe packaging to fully recyclable mono-material films.
  • Expanding the use of 100% recycled-content plastic packaging.
  • Reducing virgin plastic consumption through packaging redesign.
  • Developing future biodegradable and lower-plastic product technologies.
  • Increasing recycled content within primary and secondary packaging where practical and technically feasible.

Community Engagement

We continued to support local communities and healthcare initiatives through donations of wipes, hygiene products and equipment to charities, schools and community organisations.

Looking Ahead: 2026 and Beyond

Our sustainability objectives support our Science Based Targets and long-term Net Zero roadmap.
