Environmental Sustainability
At Pal International, sustainability drives our growth, ensuring we meet market demand responsibly.
We are dedicated to environmental sustainability, continuously minimising our impact through resource optimisation and emissions reduction. We recognise the challenges of climate change and integrate sustainability into our core operations to build resilience and drive long-term growth. Our ISO14001-certified Environmental Management System (EMS) ensures we follow best practices in monitoring and reducing our footprint. Beyond compliance, we actively invest in renewable energy, reduce waste, and enhance resource efficiency, embedding sustainability into every aspect of our business for a greener future.

Sustainability Progress: Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
At Pal International, we are proud to lead by example in environmental sustainability. Guided by global frameworks such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals, ISO14001, and the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), we track key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess our environmental impact, celebrate progress, and identify opportunities for continued improvement.
Carbon Reduction & Energy Management
We achieved carbon neutrality for Scope 1 & 2 emissions in 2025, five years ahead of our SBTi 2030 target. Our long-term goal remains Net Zero across Scopes 1, 2 & 3 by 2050.
Scope 1 & 2 Emissions (tCO₂e):
- 2019 Baseline: 226 (Gas, Fleet & Electricity)
- 2024: 153 (↓32%)
- Gas eliminated
- 100% EV fleet and renewable electricity (REGO-backed)
Scope 3 Emissions (tCO₂e):
- 2019 Baseline: 5,883
- 2024: 5,854 (↓0.5%)
Scope 3 accounts for 97% of our emissions, with reduction initiatives now underway.
Additional 2024–2025 achievements:
- Relocated to a BREEAM “Outstanding”-rated site with onsite solar, motion-sensor LED lighting, HVAC upgrades, and rainwater harvesting
- Ongoing carbon data reporting to SME Climate Hub, UN Global Compact, and SBTi
Resource Efficiency & Waste Management
Water Consumption
- 2024: ↓6% to 5,862 m³ through conservation efforts and rainwater harvesting
Waste to Landfill
- Maintained at 0%, with all waste diverted via recycling, reuse, or energy recovery
Total Waste Generated
- ↑50% to 214 tonnes (due to site relocation and production growth)
Breakdown:
-
- General waste: ↑90% to 170 tonnes
- Recycled materials: ↓30% to 32 tonnes
- Paper/Board: ↑35% to 7 tonnes
- Plastic: ↓310% to 7 tonnes
- Pallets: ↑ to 17.5 tonnes
- Hazardous waste: ↑66% to 12 tonnes (managed under strict compliance)
Waste management improvements include centralised office bins and elimination of plastic bin liners.
Sustainable Sourcing & Procurement
- ISO14001-certified suppliers increased from 33% to 36%
- Ongoing supplier engagement to improve Scope 3 data and introduce carbon performance criteria in procurement
- Continued push towards recyclable and biodegradable packaging materials
Community Engagement
We continue to support local and global communities through donations and partnerships:
- Lab equipment donations to local schools
- PPE kits and hygiene product contributions to Inter Care and LOROS
Looking Ahead: 2025 and Beyond
Our 2025–2030 goals include:
- Maintain Scope 1 & 2 carbon neutrality
- Strengthen Scope 3 data and begin targeted reductions
- Increase ISO14001-certified suppliers to 50%
- Further reduce water and energy use through audits and equipment upgrades
- Innovate for product circularity using life cycle assessments (LCAs)
- Collaborate across our value chain to reduce product emissions
By 2050, we aim to achieve Net Zero across all emission scopes, investing in low-emission logistics, sustainable materials, and verified carbon offsetting for residual Scope 3 emissions.
