2019: The British Retail Consortium (BRC) award us their highest possible accreditation, an AA Grade, for consumer products, adding to a raft of quality and regulatory successes.
2017: Our offices in Dubai moved into the Dubai Airport FreeZone, allowing us to improve services to our Middle East / GCC customers.
2016: Our goal of becoming Europe's most highly accredited wipes manufacturer in the area of quality management became a step closer through the achievement of British Retail Consortium accreditation (BRC).
2015: This year saw a major investment in new machinery to widen capabilities in the production of flow wrap wipes formats. At the same time, we also launched our PalTech Industrial Wipes Range across all markets worldwide.
2011: Our new range of Infection Control Wipes launched into healthcare markets around the world, under a new brand – Medipal.
2007: Continued growth created the need for new premises that could take the business forward, better responding to the needs of our customers all across the world. Moving our head office and operations to a new site in Lutterworth – our current home – enabled the development of an industry leading wipes manufacturing facility.
2005: We opened our first international office in Hong Kong as a response to strong growth in Asia Pacific, expanding routes to markets in the region. We also introduced a dedicated quality management team in the region.
2001: With an increasingly scientific approach, our R&D and Technical capabilities were improved with the development of our in-house Chemical and Microbiology Laboratories. Chemical formulating widened the development of wipes into new industry sectors.
1990: Wet Wipes manufacturing began with the acquisition of Fibre Treatments Ltd. Our first food hygiene wipes range were developed for use within kitchens and food factories, building our reputation for innovation in manufacturing.
1981: After a decade of growth, we moved to a new site, bringing all parts of the business under one roof for the first time. The Protection Works in Oadby would be our home for the next 30 years.
1973: Our own manufacturing began with the first range of specialist Chef's headwear. We also began exporting, with sales into Europe made for the first time. Pal Wear Disposables began to develop its brand and reputation around great quality, innovative hygiene products.
1970: Pal is first established as Pal Wear Disposables, importing paper and linen headwear from the USA and distributing to food outlets around Leicester, including the Brucciani Coffee Shops.
We know that everything - from our customers and their needs to our own products and processes - can benefit from change, so we work proactively to keep us at the forefront of the industry.
We have achieved a huge amount in the last 50 years and have exciting plans for growth and new product development. Last year, over 40 countries found their hygiene and infection control solutions in Pal products and that number is set to grow.
In constantly striving for better ways to help our customers, we’re crafting new and exciting programs that will radically change the way some of our markets operate. Included in this progression are our sustainability plans, as we work to reduce our environmental impact. Behind the science are a global team of talented individuals, who we continue to invest in so they can do what they do best in a supportive environment.
Quality & Regulatory Requirements
At the heart of our quality systems is ISO9001, which we’ve held for many years now. ISO9001 is the world’s most widely recognised Quality Management System and helps us to continually monitor and manage quality across all operations.
Leading The Way In Medical Devices
We have also been awarded ISO13485, which is a standalone quality standard adapted from ISO9001 to regulate medical device manufacturing environments, building on the 9001 standards with more prescriptive requirements and even more thoroughly documented quality management systems. We are proud to have achieved this standard, which allows our products to carry the universally recognised CE mark.
Consumer Products Accreditation
The BRCGS Consumer Products Standard is aimed at manufacturers of consumer goods. It’s a vitally important accreditation in the food and beverage industry. We have been working with BRCGS for many years now, and in our latest audit in 2022 received an A grading.
Halal Certified
Halal standards are key to the global success of our products in both food and non-food supply chains. The HFA approval we have achieved is based on some of the most advanced and detailed Halal Auditing Systems in existence today, covering our ingredients, premises, processes, packaging and logistics. The HFA approval means our customers can rest assured of our compliance to these standards.
This is a brief overview and we’re very proud of the processes we have in place. If you’d like to know more about any aspect of this vital area, please contact us and we’ll put you in touch with our Quality Manager.
What we do at Pal is much more than manufacturing hygiene wipes. We break the mould and push the boundaries of what is possible, and we encourage our people to do that too. Whether that’s breaking down barriers and collaborating with healthcare providers in third world countries, being kinder to the planet or sharing our prosperity with those around us.
We’re fuelled by our sense of adventure and a drive to connect with others. If you are too, you could be just what we’re looking for.
